1. Who we are, who you are

stepkeep is published by GRAN Software Solutions GmbH, Am Hamburger Bahnhof 3 c/o Glazewski, 10557 Berlin, Germany, registered at Amtsgericht Berlin Charlottenburg under HRB 245105 B and represented by its managing directors Grzegorz Glazewski and Dusan Odalovic. "We" means that company. "You" means the person or organisation holding the licence. Our full Impressum is at gransoftware.de/impressum.

A consumer buys mainly for private purposes. A business customer buys for their trade or profession. Where a rule below applies to only one of the two, it says so. If you buy a Team licence for an organisation, you confirm that you may bind it, and "you" then includes its employees and contractors.

If anything here conflicts with a law that protects you and cannot be waived, the law wins.

2. The licence and the plans

We grant you a licence to use the extension under the plan you hold. The limits are enforced in the extension and are these:

Plan Price What it allows
Free No charge Up to five saved guides at a time, PDF export with a small watermark, and the editor with its blur and annotation tools.
Personal 59 EUR, once For one person. Unlimited saved guides, every export (PDF, HTML, Markdown and clipboard), no watermark, and your own logo, colours and footer on every export.
Team 149 EUR, once Everything in Personal, for every employee and contractor of one company, plus a brand file one person can export for the others to import, and priority support.

You may

  • Install and use the extension in the browsers you use, within your plan, and again on a new machine with the same key.
  • Use it for your own work and for work you do for clients.
  • Keep every guide, screenshot and export you make. They are yours. We claim no rights in them and never receive a copy.

You may not

  • Share one licence beyond the person or the company it was bought for.
  • Sell, rent, sublicense or redistribute the key or the extension, or offer either as your own product.
  • Remove a copyright notice, or the attribution printed in a free export.
  • Modify or reverse-engineer the extension beyond what the law allows. Its source ships unminified in the package, and you may read it.

A paid licence does not expire

It has no end date, there is nothing to renew, and we will not turn it into a subscription or charge you again for the version you bought. It ends only if you cancel or are refunded under sections 4 and 5, or if we end it for a serious breach of the rules above, which we would only do for a reason we tell you.

The key is the licence

After you pay, we email you a licence key. Paste it into the extension once, under Licence. The extension checks it on your own machine and never contacts anyone, so the key works offline and keeps working whatever happens to us. Keep it like a password: anyone holding it can use it. If you lose it, we can normally send it again from our order record. If it leaks, tell us and we send you a new one.

Which plan you hold is written into the key and shown in the extension, but nothing checks who is using it. We ask you to buy the licence that matches who will use it, and we may decline further sales to a customer who does not.

3. Buying, price and payment

You buy through the payment links on our pricing page. Stripe runs the checkout as merchant of record: the sale, the tax and the invoice are Stripe's, under Stripe's buyer terms, and we never see your card. The licence itself is a contract with us. It is formed when Stripe confirms your completed order, and we issue the key when the payment clears. If we cannot fulfil an order, we refund it in full.

Prices are in euro and include VAT. Stripe works out the tax for your country and issues the invoice, and a business can enter a VAT ID at checkout. The total shown on the checkout page before you pay is the total you pay. Each plan is a one-off payment. Nothing renews, and we hold no payment details of yours.

What little data a purchase involves, and what we keep of it, is in our privacy policy, which is part of these terms.

4. Your right to cancel (Widerrufsrecht)

If you are a consumer, the law gives you the right below. The wording of the notice and of the form follows the statutory model, which is why it reads the way it does.

When the contract ends, the licence ends with it. Stop using the paid features and remove the key with Remove key in the extension's Licence panel. Refunds go back through Stripe to the method you paid with, at no fee to you. If you are unsure whether this right still applies to your purchase, you do not need to work it out: our promise in section 5 covers you either way.

5. Our 14-day money-back promise

If stepkeep is not right for you, tell us within 14 days of the purchase at hello@gransoftware.de and we refund the full amount you paid. You do not need a reason and there is nothing to return. This applies to every customer, consumer or business, and it sits on top of the statutory right in section 4: we honour it whether or not that right has expired. Stripe issues the refund as merchant of record, back to the method you paid with.

A refund ends the licence, exactly as a cancellation does: stop using the paid features and remove the key.

6. Warranty

Consumers. The statutory rules for digital products apply (sections 327 and following of the German Civil Code). Claims for defects expire two years after we deliver the key. If the extension is defective, ask us first to fix it or to supply a working version. Only if that fails may you reduce the price or end the contract.

Business customers. We warrant that the extension materially matches the description on our pricing page at the time of purchase. Claims must be made within twelve months of delivery. Our first obligation is to fix the defect or to supply a working version, at our choice. If that fails, you may end the contract and recover the price.

Free plan. The free plan costs nothing, and no warranty beyond what the law requires comes with it. We still answer support for it.

We do not promise that every page can be recorded. Some pages, canvas apps and iframes refuse to be captured, and the free plan exists so you can find that out before you pay. We also do not promise that a recorded guide is accurate or that it suits a purpose you have not told us about. A guide records what you did; check it before you share it.

7. Liability

We are liable without limitation for damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, for fraudulently concealed defects, where we have given a guarantee, and under the German Product Liability Act.

For a slightly negligent breach of a material contractual obligation, one whose fulfilment makes the contract possible in the first place and which you may rely on us to keep, our liability is limited to the damage that was foreseeable and typical for this kind of contract. Otherwise our liability for slight negligence is excluded. None of this limits the warranty in section 6 or a consumer right that cannot be waived.

For business customers, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of production, loss of data that a reasonable backup would have prevented, or indirect and consequential damage, except where the first paragraph applies.

Keep your own copy of your guides

Your guides and screenshots live in your browser profile, not with us. We cannot restore them, because we never had them. Deleting a guide, clearing your browser data, uninstalling the extension or losing the machine loses the guides with it. Export anything you would not want to write again.

8. Updates and support

Every licence includes every update, at no extra charge, for as long as we publish them. There is no paid version two. We may change or remove a feature where there is a good reason, such as a security problem, a change in Chrome's extension platform or a legal requirement, and we say so in the release notes. If an update ever removes a core capability of your paid plan, we refund you on request. No update can disable your licence, because the key is checked inside your own browser.

Support goes to hello@gransoftware.de, in English and German, normally within one working day. Team licences are answered first. The extension has no service behind it, so there is no uptime to promise: it works without us. What we cannot promise is that Chrome will run extensions of this kind forever.

9. Governing law and changes

German law applies, excluding the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of that country.

For business customers, the place of performance and the exclusive place of jurisdiction is Berlin, unless a mandatory rule says otherwise. A business customer needs our written consent to transfer this contract. We may transfer it to a company in our group or to a successor, on notice, without affecting a licence already issued.

We are not obliged and not willing to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board. If a provision of these terms is invalid, the rest stays in force and the statutory rule takes its place.

We may change these terms for future purchases and future versions of the extension. A change never applies to a licence you already bought: the version published on the day we issued your key is the one that governs it. The current version is always at https://stepkeep.app/terms, and we send you a past version on request.

10. Contact

Questions about these terms, a refund, a lost key or anything else go to hello@gransoftware.de, or by post to GRAN Software Solutions GmbH, Am Hamburger Bahnhof 3 c/o Glazewski, 10557 Berlin, Germany.
