# Screenshot shortcuts

_Windows 11 · Mac · Chromebook · a full web page in Chrome_

## Windows 11

| Keys | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Win + Shift + S | An area, a window or the whole screen, picked in the snip bar. Copied to the clipboard; paste with Ctrl + V. |
| Win + PrtSc | The whole screen, saved as a file in Pictures\Screenshots. |
| Alt + PrtSc | Only the window in front, copied to the clipboard. |
| PrtSc | Opens the snip bar, like Win + Shift + S. With that setting off: the whole screen to the clipboard. |
| Win + Alt + PrtSc | The game or app in front, saved to the Captures folder. |

On a laptop where PrtSc shares a key, hold Fn as well: Fn + PrtSc.

## Mac

| Keys | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Shift + Command + 3 | The whole screen, saved as a .png on the desktop. |
| Shift + Command + 4 | Drag over an area to capture it. |
| Shift + Command + 4 then Space | Click a window to capture it alone, with its shadow. |
| Shift + Command + 5 | The Screenshot toolbar: every option, and screen recording. |
| Control | Add it to any shortcut above to copy the picture instead of saving a file. |

Esc cancels a capture before it is taken.

## Chromebook

| Keys | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Ctrl + Show windows | The whole screen. |
| Shift + Ctrl + Show windows | The capture toolbar: Partial, Window or Full screen, and screen recording. |
| Ctrl + Shift + F5 | The same toolbar, on a keyboard with no Show windows key. |
| Power + Volume down | A screenshot when the Chromebook is used as a tablet. |

Every screenshot is saved to Downloads and copied to the clipboard.

## A full web page in Chrome

1. Scroll the page to the end and back, so everything that loads on scroll has loaded.
2. Open DevTools: F12 or Ctrl + Shift + I · on a Mac Command + Option + I
3. Open the Command Menu: Ctrl + Shift + P · on a Mac Command + Shift + P
4. Type “screenshot” and choose Capture full size screenshot.
